Der zwölfte Condition Report findet im selbstorganisierten Filmlabor LaborBerlin statt und versammelt Filme aus gemeinschaftlich entstandenen Projekten, die alternative Räume für ein unabhängiges, nicht-kommerzielles Kino geschaffen haben. Entstanden in unterschiedlichen Zeiten, reagieren die Filme auf das beherrschende Gefühl eines drohenden Zusammenbruchs. Doch anstatt sich ihm zu beugen, entwerfen sie eine Geste des immer wieder möglichen Anfangs. Zu sehen sind THE FALLEN WORLD (1983) und DAUGHTERS OF CHAOS (1980) von Marjorie Keller, entstanden im Umfeld der New York Filmmakers’ Cooperative; ROHFILM (1968) von Birgit und Wilhelm Hein, Gründungsmitglieder von XSCREEN in Köln; RENATE (1967) von Recha Jungmann, gezeigt bei der 1. Hamburger Filmschau; sowie SANS LUNE (2017) von Sophie Watzlawick, Mitglied von LaborBerlin.
Filmkopien unterliegen einem ständigen Wandel, der im Archiv in Zustandsberichten dokumentiert wird. In der Serie „Condition Report” teilt der Filmemacher Juan González seine persönlichen Entdeckungsmomente während der Prüfung der Kopien im Arsenal-Archiv.
The twelfth Condition Report takes place at the self-organized film lab LaborBerlin and brings together films from collaborative projects that have created alternative spaces for independent, non-commercial cinema. Created in different times, the films respond to the dominant feeling of impending collapse. But instead of bowing to it, they create a gesture of a beginning that is always possible. THE FALLEN WORLD (1983) and DAUGHTERS OF CHAOS (1980) by Marjorie Keller, made in the context of the New York Filmmakers' Cooperative; ROHFILM (1968) by Birgit and Wilhelm Hein, founding members of XSCREEN in Cologne; RENATE (1967) by Recha Jungmann, shown at the first Hamburg Filmschau; and SANS LUNE (2017) by Sophie Watzlawick, a member of Labor Berlin.
Film copies are subject to constant change. In the archive, this change is documented in condition reports that are created during the inspection of prints. In the series "Condition Report" filmmaker Juan González shares his personal moments of discovery during his work in the Arsenal archive.

LaborBerlin e.V. ist ein gemeinnütziges, selbstorganisiertes Filmlabor, das allen offensteht, die sich für analoge Filmpraktiken mit einem experimentellen und DIY-orientierten Ansatz interessieren. Das Labor versteht sich als offener Raum für den Austausch und die Diskussion filmischer Ideen und Arbeitsweisen. Neue Mitglieder erhalten eine Einführung in die Nutzung der Ausstattung – darunter Dunkelkammer, Tricktisch, Kontaktprinter und Scanner – und können anschließend eigenständig an eigenen Projekten arbeiten. Ergänzend veranstaltet LaborBerlin regelmäßig Workshops und Filmvorführungen. Das Kollektiv ist Teil eines internationalen Netzwerks unabhängiger Filmlabore und kooperiert mit Filmschaffenden und Organisationen aus aller Welt.
LaborBerlin e.V. is a non-profit, self-organized film lab that is open to anyone interested in analog film practices with an experimental and DIY-oriented approach. The lab sees itself as an open space for the exchange and discussion of cinematic ideas and working methods. New members receive an introduction to using the equipment – including a darkroom, animation stand, contact printer, and scanner – and can then work independently on their own projects. In addition, LaborBerlin regularly hosts workshops and film screenings. The collective is part of an international network of independent film labs and collaborates with filmmakers and organizations from around the world.
